Small Repair Shops vs. the the Throwaway Culture of America

I saw this repair shop in Massachusetts. It is an example of a repair shop that repairs small appliances, Lights and light fixtures, and vacuums. You are seeing less and less of these shops in America. Our society is turning into a throwaway culture. We will throw away (landfill) a vacuum cleaner and buy a new one instead of getting it repaired. I had a sustainability class where I was explaining to a student why I replace my dress shoe soles instead of buying a brand new pair of shoes. It was tough for the student to understand the value in doing this. He didn't even know this was an option. Support these little shops in your community with the goal of reducing landfill waste. and overall you will financially benefit from repairing items as well.
