An ancient Roman waterfall, Cascata delle Marmore or Marmore Falls is man-made by the Roman  Empire and is located in Italy. Is there a difference in Quality of Water between Tap water and bottled water? Why does bottled water taste stale? Does bottled Water expire?

Is there a difference in Quality of Water between Tap water and bottled water? The answer is No. Bottled water manufacturers just want you to believe this so that you purchase the plastic bottles their water bottle product. In terms of tap water the United States has one of the safest fresh water systems in the world to drink from.

Bottled water deteriorates over time because of its plastic container more than the water itself. Bottled water has an unofficial shelf life of 2 years.  If you store water long term put it in a different container. It is not required by the FDA to label water with an expiration date, as the FDA states that water does not expire. Opened bottled water eventually tastes “stale”. When you open water it is immediately impacted by carbon dioxide. It is still safe to drink.

Stay away from plastic bottles, Plastic does not decompose. The plastic bottle will still be with us 100 years from now. It does break down into microplastics though. Fish mistake tiny plastic particles these for food and consume them. So literally micro-plastics end up in our human food chain. Plastic bottles are horrible for the environment. Bottled Water became popular in the 80’s, the world survived without bottled water since the dawn of time. Make a difference and change your water source.

If you want a different type of water source other the tap water, try Filtered water that you keep in your refrigerator.
