Solar Roads and Solar Bike Path in Europe. These constructed roads have a future goal of one day being able to power a car as it drives. Like all great ideas, it must be tested and refined over a period of time to see if a concept can be created that one day could potentially be used worldwide. These concept roads have several issues currently:
- The solar powered roads don’t tilt toward the sun like rooftop solar panels do. This limits the amount of energy it absorbs from the sun.
- The roads have been damaged by large trucks.
- The solar roads get dirty due to the cars and this reduces the sun intake.
- The solar roads are expensive to build and maintain.
- Solar Farms produce more energy vs. solar roads when you compare the cost.
